Summary

Various regional stakeholders have agreed on the need to put in place a James Bay Highway rehabilitation program. The project includes a seven-year program that will ensure the long-term sustainability of the road and maintain a safe level for the various users. Work began in 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2021. In 2017, the work consists mainly of mechanical shredding between kilometers 4.5 and 90 of Chisasibi Road, paving between kilometers 144 and 200 on the road to James Bay, at the reopening of an old quarry located near kilometer 168 of the James Bay Highway, requests for the expansion of existing quarries, the replacement of 47 culverts and the repair of three bridges.
