Summary
By this project, the proponent plans to expand and operate a borrow pit in order to supply covering materials for the rehabilitation of a tailings pond. This project was the subject of a request for exemption in 2019. The area to be opened and operated in 2019 was 0.9 ha. During the preparation of the plans and specifications for the remediation of the tailings pond, the calculations performed showed that the material requirement from the borrow pit was higher than expected and that the area to be opened required was rather 2.9 ha. The proponent therefore wishes to enlarge the borrow pit to proceed with the restoration of the tailings pond.
