Summary

The SDBJ has been mandated by Hydro-Québec to maintain the Route-du-Nord and wants to open and operate a 2.97-hectare quarry to produce crushed stone for the planned maintenance work on the gravel road. The site will be cleared, topsoil will be removed and stored, and an access road, equipment storage area, crushing area and storage area will be built on site. The rock will be extracted by blasting and transported off site after crushing. Once the quarry is finished, the proponent plans to restore the site by covering the land with the topsoil set aside in the opening phase. The site will also be reforested with jack pine to give it the appearance of a natural landscape.
