Summary

The project involves the operation of a new quarry (2.9 hectares) and the construction of an access road approximately 800 meters in length. Deforestation and stripping activities will be carried out to expose the rock surface in the areas where the material will be taken. Drilling activities will take place for a few weeks at the opening of the quarry and on an “as needed” basis thereafter. The proposed site for the quarry has a large volumes of good quality material and is located approximately 7 km from the community of Nemaska. The estimated volume of material (150 000 m3) that can be produced at this potential site would meet Nemaska’s need for a period of 5 to 7 years. The aggregates produced will mainly be used to repair roads and building community infrastructures.
