Summary

The proponent, a subsidiary of Winsome Resources Ltd., plans to open the Adina Lithium mining to exploit a spodumene lithium-rich pegmatite deposit. The proponent indicates that the project is based on the complementarity of three components:

1. The Adina extraction site (owned by Winsome Resources). The proponenet plans to mine the deposit through drilling and blasting for a period of 21 years;

2. The Renard site, owned by Stornoway Diamonds (Canada) Inc., where Winsome Resources holds an exclusive acquisition option and where the ore from the Adina site would be processed if the acquisition is completed;

3. A road to be constructed for the transportation of ore between the Adina and Renard sites. The proponent specifies that this road is currently being studied by a Cree proponent, ESKAN Company, who would be responsible for the planning, construction, and maintenance of this potential road.

At the Adina site, an undisturbed natural site, the proponent plans a minimum of extraction-related activities, instead choosing to maximize the facilities/activities already authorized at the Renard site, which is already disturbed. At the Renard site, the ore processing plant and related infrastructure will be adapted and converted to process lithium-bearing pegmatite instead of kimberlite. Furthermore, the vast majority of activities needed to meet the requirements of the Adina mining project can be carried out within the existing footprint of the Renard site. The existing processing plant at the Renard site would be converted to allow for the processing of lithium-bearing pegmatite with an average grade of 1.24% Li2O, at a nominal rate of 1.70 Mt per year, which is approximately 4,650 t/day. Following the planned modifications to the plant, it would allow for the production of an average of 255.9 kt of spodumene concentrate at 5.5% Li2O annually.
